Wednesday, May 17th
5 p.m. to 12 Midnight – Open Mic Competition in Veterans Park Festival Tent – First place cash prize is $500, second place $250, third place $150, fourth place $75, fifth place $25. Entry fee is $25 by April 15 or $35 after April 15. Entry form and details. Sponsor opportunities.
Thursday, May 18th
3 pm – Schmidt Amusements Carnival in Veterans Park
4 to 9 pm – Craft Beer Block Party on South Lake Street in downtown Boyne City. Featuring 22 craft beer brewers, two wineries, 3 local restaurants, 2 local food trucks and live music from the Thornetta Davis Band from Detroit. Admission is $10 per person, 21 and over, and includes a souvenir Morel Block Party plastic beer glass and two tasting tickets. Additional tickets are only $1 for a 3 oz. taste. Friday, May 19th
1-6 pm – Craft Show – Showcasing crafters with unique, hand-made items. (Vendor spaces are sold out.)
1-6 pm – M.O.R.E.L. Show “Michigan Outdoor Recreational Experiences & Living Show” in Sunset Park, corner of Water and Lake Streets, adjacent to the Chamber office. Vendor application and rules.
3 pm – Schmidt Amusements Carnival
4 pm – Morel Seminar – Free tips on finding morels in the woods, featuring local morel hunting expert Anthony Williams. Beer & wine available.
5 pm – Guided Morel Hunt buses depart from Veterans Park, $15; online registration now closed. You can register in the festival tent from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday; cash or checks only only for late registration, no credit cards.
5:30 & 8:00 pm – Morelfest Wine & Dine gourmet event with two seatings and live entertainment. This event sells out every year, so register early! Details here; online registration opens March 1st.
8 p.m. – Entertainment in the Festival Tent with The Cookies, Michigan’s hottest new Motown/dance group. Admission is $5. (2017 entertainers to be announced.)
Saturday, May 20th
7-10 am – Morel Breakfast at the VFW Post 3675 @ 1108 Boyne Avenue.
8 am – “Run for Their Lives” Humane Society 5K run
**Register in Sunset Park beginning at 7 am. Application
8 am – National Mushroom Hunt
**Register 8 – 9 am at 1315 Boyne Ave., the former Carter’s store parking lot. Buses leave at 9:00 am sharp. Winners announced at 3:30 pm in festival tent. Register in advance on Application & Rules Page, $20 in advance, deadline 9 p.m. Friday. $25 registration on Saturday.
10 -6 pm – Craft Show showcasing crafters with unique, hand-made items.
10 – 6 pm – M.O.R.E.L. Outdoor Show, Sunset Park, corner of Water and Lake Streets adjacent to the Chamber office.
11 am – 5 pm – Morel Pole
Mushroom hunters can hang their morels on Mushroom Pole for prizes! Awards for largest mushroom, best dressed mushroom, best of show mushroom and longest distance traveled to pick your mushroom. Located at Country Now & Then, 211 Water Street.

11 am – Schmidt Amusements Carnival
12 – 3 pm – Taste of Morels, Our Premiere Event! 12 area restaurants & chefs provide morel-infused delicacies! Beer & wine available. 2016 participants were:

4 pm – Great Morel Giveaway. Register ahead of time at downtown stores to win morels and/or gift certificates. Then at 4 p.m. Saturday, join the “Morel Mob” as we walk from store to store, drawing a winner at each location. The walkaround starts at Freshwater Art Gallery, 217, S. Lake Street. Details.
8:30 pm – Live music and dancing in the tent with Northern Michigan’s favorite rock band, Scarkazm. This band took first place in one of Michigan’s largest battle of the bands in 2015 and has just released their second CD. Admission is $5 at the door. Beer & wine available. Sunday, May 21st
11 – 4 pm – Craft Show showcasing crafters with unique, hand-made items. Veterans Park
11 – 6 pm – M.O.R.E.L. Outdoor Show in Sunset Park, corner of Lake and Water Streets adjacent to Chamber office.
12 noon – Schmidt Amusements Carnival
1 –4 pm Northern Michigan Cancer Crusaders sponsor Live Music, Auction & Food. All proceeds to local families.
